Yes I have lowered my stock cage 5" I also lowered the seats 4". Just take your time and plan it out first. I cut the bottom of the cage off at the same angle as stock. Then ground out the stock plug welds. redrill your cage for new plug welding. place the stock rollbar extensions back in place and bolt them snug. Put the shortened cage back on "It may take some finess because its now narower" replace the top X brace. shorten the rear V brace. Now you can start welding. I used a dewalt sawzall to cut everything 4" grinder to clean it up and a small mig with .025" wire for all welding. It turned out great and cheap. Ill try to post pics.http://s852.photobucket.com/albums/ab83/dustyshovel/

Great- how did you lower your seats???? I am 6 ft, so can not lower the cage a lot, but if I lowered the seats I could...
We are really loving this machine. We went riding with a bunch of RZR's. They had trouble in the water- we just powered right through in 2 wheel drive! |

Well lowering the seats is a little more involved. Again take your time and plan it out. First remove seats, engine cover, seat pans, rear inner fenders and floor. Disconnect battery and remove. Unbolt seat brackets. Make a mark with a scribe 4" down from the seat brackets that are welded to the cage. "Well down and forward at the angle of the cage". forward maybe an inch. Cut off the welded seat brackets with a sawzall "you will reuse these". Clean them up for welding. rotate them 180* weld them back on at the scribed marks. Next you need to move the other side of the seat/frame down. Cut the rear frame rail at the back of the seat pan just in front of the upright round tube. Cut the seatbelt tube just on this side of the belt breather. cut the air filter bracket in half and the shifter bracket. now extend the seatbelt 1" square tube down and forward with 5" of new 1" stock, the same with the rear frame "tack weld only for now, make sure everything is level and square". Extend the air filter bracket with sheet steel same as stock. Have a helper hold the air filter box in place wile tack welding. The same for the shifter bracket. Bolt the seat brackets in and adjust as needed. Final weld. Reinstall battery box, but it needs moved toward engine about 1" so redrill the holes. Pass. side is about the same. You will need to trim the seat pans and on pass. side the seat bottom plate to clear filler neck. The rear inner fenders need about 1" trimmed off the top were the clip on, and they will go back on. trim the floor risers 4" and reinstall. And now you can trim and remold the engine cover "a heat gun will help with this". I now this is long winded but it is needed without good pics.
