so Hello everyone.. I just bought a 2008 650 last night. The cage seems a bit tall and the prowler will not fit in my enclosed trailer. Has anyone taken a few inches off the bottom of their stock cage and put it back on? When I sit in the prowler I have over 1 foot of clearance above my head to the roll cage.. Thanks for any input!

shipping is killing me up here in alaska. Sometimes I pay more in shipping than I do for products... I was fixin to lower the stock cage 8 inches until i get to the lower 48 (aka lower 48 states) and buy a whole new cage.. i was wondering if anyone one was a penny pincher and tried it...

2008 Prowler XT - The gas guage always shows only one bar regardless of how much gas is in the tank. When I initally turn the key on the guage shows all the bars but then immediately goes down to just the one bar. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Buy some Chevron Techron fuel treatment and run about 3 tanks of fuel through. It seems that some gasoline allow the fuel level/sender in the tank to corrode and give incorrect readings.
If that doesn't work, take the level/sender out of the tank and clean it.

The OEM Cage is not really suitable for lowering. You would have to rebend it wider to fit the stock mounts once you lower it. That could be done, but at what risk to the integrity I'm not sure.
I would think you could find a machine shop that has a bender and can fab up a cage for you with much better results than shortening the OEM Cage.

I shortenend the cage. I removed it completly from the atv. I removed a total of six inches from the bottom of the rails behind the seats and removed four inches from the front section. I started by cutting four inches off them I test fit it and realized it could use more cutting. I then re drilled holes for the bolts and painted the raw metal. I t worked out great, feels as secure as it did when I bought it. It looks alot better tooo. Now when you look at your cage you will notice the top of the cage is more narrow than the bottom part where you will be cutting. I thought it was going to be a problem initially however, it worked out just fine. this whole process took me two hours. tools needed. A Cutting tool such as a dremel or hacksaw ( air tool would be best but a dremel works fine.) Paint, An angle grinder or a file and a drill. The hardest part was after making the initial cut you have to put the aft end of the cage back on and angle the cut so it sets on the frame as it did before you cut it. It was not hard , I should say it was time consuming. I have pics, but i don't know how to post them..
