I have an 08 650 xt and love it. I replaced the stock tires with 27'' mud lite xtrs. Lately the belt has been slipping in high range in the mud and while climbing hills. I only have 280 miles on it but is slipping. The dealer told me that I need to use low range more when playing in the mud and climbing hills. can the belt be adjusted or does it have to be replaced? this is my first belt driven bike. Can I do this myself or do I have to take it to a dealer? Just incase there has been no water in the belt cover and I pulled the cover off to make sure there was no oil. Thanks in advance.

Belt Slipping

I am having the same problem with belt slippage. I have the same tires as you have. I believe you need to do the clutch upgrade with a new belt. I have mine ordered. Mine has 3400 miles on it and your problem will only get worse. I found that sidebysidesports.com has a lot of helpful parts.

Good luck.
