I purchased a 2009 550 flat bed. It had a front bumper and the wood rail kit on the unit. I took advantage of the free winch kit offer. the dealer cut a hole in the bumper (Plastic piece) and put the winch cable out through it.

This does not look right to me. the cable will cut the plastic in no time. I was thinking of getting a piece of 3/16 diamond plate and putting another fair lead roller system bolted to it over the plastic. My only conceren would be the strength of the bumper when winching. any other ideas.

The only other bumper that cat offers is not for the 550 flat bed that has the winch attachment. Confused?:wtf1:

You have to remove the plastic bumper cover when you install the winch. The fairlead rollers mount behind where the cover was. I've never seen one left on.
Post pics if you fab up some other way. You raise a valid point that might need some working on.
