yes it is, was it the front or the rear diff? read on a few of us have had some growing pains
sorry you said front well that's a new one, did the axle slide out or did something let go inside , I'm sure I'll be next , I've had every problem accept for a blown head gasket witch I'm looking into right now, I only use 4 wheel on goat trails so maybe I'll dodge that one.
<<<I've had every problem >>>

I was going to buy a Teryx Sport 09, they looks like the best built SxS and very solid compare to RZR but now I am looking at the Prowler 1000 because of the power, but not to sure about the quality seems a little fragile. You said you had every problem can you explain????? some times big power does not mean everything. I do not want to spend all that money on a Prowler and be at the shop all the time. Thanks
the main problems so far are the rear axles sliding out becuase of the keeper clip are the wrong size or a design flaw, 2 lefts and 1 right, some are blowing head gaskets, the steering rack on these suck with weak tie rods, mine starts up out of sync going to look at that today, there is a lot on this forum just look oround.
all new utv have these growing pains some manufactures are a little better on fixing them then others, if you like to criuse you'll be fine, if your like me and pinned all the time you might have more problems then most.

Thanks,
I,m having the axle comming out problem also, 2 on the LF with in 100 mile, do they make a different snap ring? 2009 700 xtx
basically the manufacture does not have a fix that works or if they do they are not willing to share with us, the fix they had my dealer do for me was a new axle that popped out at 55 mph and I almost rolled with my 5 yr old in the first mile, at that point I wanted to learn what was going on with this problem, an after 3 axle slide outs the last 2 fixes my self at camp with minimal tools, my conclusion is that some machines left the factory without 2 little O rings that help expanded a C clip on the inboard stub axle to keep in place in the diff once it is properly installed , well I went with 4 O rings and seems to be working so far almost 400 miles now and no slide outs,
I'm having some other issues needing attention now like motor firing out of sinc when cold starting and oil leaking out of the water pump , I'm sure it will be the same treatment from factory, my dealer has been great factory not so much , I'll keep you posted on how that turns out

I guess you would expect some problems from a first yr vehicle but I thought they had a few yrs under there belt with the Prowler and same with the Thunder Cat motor, that what I get for guessing

My brothers bought 2009 1000 prowlers and ibought 2009 700 prowlers. All three have the same problem front locking differentials do not stay locked in. Had to get winched out by my cousins 700 yamaha rhino. The yamaha would blow right around us and would push snow above his hood. You would not notice this problem on dirt or hard ground.right axle must move out just enough to disengage locker. due to cheap c clip holding in axle. Any body else have this problems.
Right front axle fix

I had the same problem, took out the front dif. the first time. second time noticed the axle had came out. Pulled the axle out of the diff. removed the clip and placed a small o-ring in the grove on the axle had to find the right one that was small enough to just keep the clip engaged on all sides (you have to streach the small ring to make it work) with the clip back on the axle it take a little tapping to get the axle clip o-ring squesed down. a rubber hammer makes the install easy. you will hear it click as it bottoms out. I have put 800 plus miles on with out a problem.
I have a 700 xtx 2009 . only problem so far is when i shut it off sometimes it wont start [engine wont roll] wait a few seconds and it will?

The 700 is EFI, if you don't let the fuel pump cycle (wait a few seconds) it won't start. Your speedo should also sweep before you try to start it.

Thanks for the information, I did the little o ring trick. Works like it should
Front Differential problem

Took it out yesterday and front differential stayed locked in for two hours. Went down some steep hills and back up when differential would stay locked in.Had to winch myself up the hill when it stopped working. Does any one know if the company detroit lockers make a front locker for 2009 artic cat prowler 700xtx or any other aftermarket company.
Has the 650 h1 had this problem? Just wondering cause I have a 09 and it seems to be doing ok right now but only has about 100 hrs on it. Thanks
My '09 550 stripped the left REAR while in 4WDL with DIF locked. Was crawling at very low rpms and really not in much of a bind. The brake rattle gets worse every time (3) the dealer "works" on it. Right now the switch solenoid is on order and the battery is shot, even though I have a tender on it. Also parking brake has to be adjusted at least every 10 hrs.
Welcome to Cat World. For those who say I'm beating the hell out of it, let me just say I'm 65 yrs old and use it 75% for hunting. Best advice I can give is make sure you ahave a good hand held CB (mine is Motorola) if you ride/hunt alone.
