About halfway way back to camp, our 2015 1000 started hesitating and sounded like it had a hard time breathing. We made it back to find the plastic bed had partially melted. Yes, the muffler apparently got hot enough to heat the shield above the muffler. Could this be a timing malfunction to where the cylinder is firing while the exhaust valve is open? That's all I could think of. Any help would be helpful.
