I just bought a 06 650 xt with only 144 miles on it. the thing looks mint and I got what I thought was a pretty good deal. I extended the roll bar and added 2 more seats so now the whole family can go. The trouble I have with it is that at about 4 to 6 mph it has a real loud rattle, seemingly coming from the front diff/front drive shaft? If i really hit the throttle it seems to be not so bad but then the engine noise takes over as well. If you go down the road and cruise at really and speed its allways there as long as your not putting it under a load or letting off completly, just cruising along. I think it seems worse at slow speeds cause there is not near as much other noise then.

I have taken off the front drive shaft and the u joints are fine and the diff oil was clean as could be so i dont think it has a bad bearing or something. Stupid me forgot to take it for a drive while I had it off to see if the noise went away. In my opinion the whole unit seems loud and full of rattles all the time. I am new to the site and the prowlers and thought I would see if any one else has the same trouble as I am having.

p.s. -- went to the local dealership and took an 08 for a drive, alot quieter and smoother. I noticed a completly diffrent exhaust system on it

thanks, Boscat

Well I found out what my rattle was. The bearing on the front diff is gone where the drive shaft hooks onto it. A little disapointed I guess with only 200 miles on it but by looking on this forum front diff trouble seems to be common. I have one question however, why is the screw that says "oil level" higher then the oil fill plug? And its written upside down? Is it just a quad one flipped upside down for some reason?
