What is that ungodly noisy whine that these prowlers make coming from the drive train? Is it a clutch whine? Something to do with the engine brake? These things are so noisy it's almost unbearable! My brother has a Wildcat 1000 with over 9000 miles on it and he plays music running down a forest road. No way you could do this with the Prowler! And I know a guy with a 650 Prowler and the same complaint! Can't run without ear plugs or you'd go deaf!!! Help please........ TIA

Mine had bad gears in the case, the facing on the teeth was not hardened correctly, common issue on 09-10.

Was that a recall issue? And was it limited to the XTZ's?
So did you swap the gears out Diesel Racer?

RD, was not a recall but was covered under warrant.
catman, replaced the 2 gears and re torqued the nut and all is good If you pull off the oil fill cover you can snake a boroscope in there and see the gears.

Thank you. But when I download that manual it doesn't show the XTZ 1000. It only show a single cylinder model. :nixweiss:
